Obituary for Eugene Arthur Quintana

Monte Vista resident Eugene Arthur Quintana, 65, died January 21, 2013 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
Eugene was born in La Lama, New Mexico the son of Guadalupe and Maria Vigil Quintana. He married his wife of 31 years, Jeanette C. Gallardo on May 6, 1978 and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2009.
Eugene worked for many years as a Custodian for the Alamosa School District. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Every year he raised a beautiful flower garden at his home. Eugene also liked woodworking and built many shelves, picture frames, cutting boards, cookie jars and birdhouses for many of his family and friends.
He had a good sense of humor. Above all, Eugene loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Paula (Edward) Silva and Geno Quintana of Albuquerque, NM, Bambi (Sam) Coffman, Regina Quintana and Nikki Quintana, all of Monte Vista; his grandchildren Jayme, Dayton, Haylee Coffman, Nika Quintana, Michaelangelo, Asia and Alyssa Navares, Viktoria and Monika Silva, Suzette Anaya and Sonrisa Armijo; his brothers and sisters Bertha (Albert) Trujillo, Clydes (Gilbert) Albert, Albert (Bennie) Quintana, Martha Ortiz, Ramona (Faustin) Archuleta and Leroy (Sally) Quintana; his sisters-in-law Joann Gallardo and Becky Maez.
His parents, his wife and one brother Eluvino Quintana preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 28th also at the church. Contributions in his memory are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
