Obituary for Lillian Falk Underwood

Monte Vista – Longtime Del Norte resident Lillian Falk Underwood, 102, passed away on October 20, 2013 at the Juniper Village of Monte Vista. She was born on December 14, 1910 in Del Norte, Colorado to Charles Henry Falk and Catherine Davie Falk. Lillian grew up on a ranch west of Del Norte. She married Duane Underwood. She received her Master’s Degree in Education and enjoyed teaching English and drama in Colorado. Lillian was very active in the Pioneer United Church and in the Twin Mountains Ladies Aid, the P.E.O., the Clio Club and an avid bridge player. Her daughters have often said, “If they would have been able to hand pick a mother, they could not have picked a better one”. Lillian is survived by her children, Patricia Ann (Curtis) Cook and Evelyn M. Underwood, her grandchildren; Jeff Grimwood, Traci (Tye) Gillespie and Justin (Kara) Grimwood as well as several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane Underwood and her brothers Fred and Lester Falk. Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 25, 2013 at the Pioneer United Church in Del Norte. Contributions are suggested to the Pioneer United Church, Rio Grande County Museum or the Del Norte Public Library.
