Obituary for George Henry Tracey

George Henry  Tracey
Manassa – Longtime Valley resident George Henry Tracey, 84, passed away on March 14, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 23, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado to Roy Francis and Lela Philomena Tracey. George graduated from high school in Manassa. He married Shirley Eileen West on December 28, 1962 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. George honorably served his country as a Sargent in the United States Army. Upon returning, he graduated from Colorado University with a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy. Following graduation, he returned to the valley, where he owned and operated the Medicine Chest in Alamosa. Following his retirement, he moved out to his ranch in Manassa. George was a former member of the Colorado State Pharmacist Association, the Alamosa Rotary and the Alamosa Kiwanis, also the Alamosa Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed ranching, fly fishing, hunting, his Arabian horses and was an avid reader of business journals.

George is survived by his daughter Mary Lynnette Tracey of Denver, his grandchildren, Alyssa R. (Greg) Bianchi of Colorado, Austin T. Meerfeld of New Mexico, John A. (Anya) Tracey of Colorado and C. Joel (Karina) Tracey of Hawaii, his great grandchildren, Giovanni J. Bianchi, Giulian George Bianchi, Mina Meerfeld and Malaya Meerfeld as well as his sister Nancy Dunn of Farmington, New Mexico and numerous nieces, nephews and extended families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley Eileen Tracey and his half-sister Frances James.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 19, 2016 at the Manassa Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday March 18, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa and from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service on Saturday.
