Obituary for Beatrice R. Lopez (Cordova)

Beatrice R. Lopez (Cordova)
Lifetime Manassa, Colorado resident Beatrice R. Lopez, 93, passed away at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado on May 9, 2016. Beatrice was born on December 26, 1922 to Canuto and Beatriz Cordova in Manassa Colorado. She married the love of her life, Rosendo Vicente Lopez on February 5, 1946 in Conejos, Colorado. Beatrice and Rosendo raised seven children and had a wonderful life together until Rosendo’s passing in 1998.

Beatrice was an amazing woman with a strong Catholic foundation. She was a founder as well as the president of the Ladies of Fatima which was a Catholic organization for woman in the valley. Beatrice also loved to travel. It didn’t matter how long it took to get somewhere for her, the enjoyment of the trip was what was most important to her. When she wasn’t traveling you were sure to find her in her garden when the weather was nice. She loved growing some of the most beautiful flowers you have seen as well as some amazing vegetables. She also found joy in canning her vegetables so her and her family could enjoy them year round and was always more than happy to share. The one thing that Beatrice was known more for than anything was how charitable she was. It didn’t matter if it was a friend or family member she was always willing and ready to help. She would give the shirt off her back if it meant it could help someone close to her.

Beatrice is survived by her children; Daniel Lopez of Blytheville, Arkansas, Florence (Patricio) Gonzales of Manassa, Colorado, Ross (Donna) Lopez of Manassa, Colorado, Joseph (Lisa) Lopez of Blackhawk, Colorado, Isaac (Margie) Lopez of Aurora, Colorado, Bea Creed of Florida, and Lisa (Shawn) Gylling of Chandler, Arizona. Her sister, Jenny Martinez of California. As well as eighteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and numerous other nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rosendo Vicente Lopez. Her Parents, Canuto and Beatriz Cordova. And 5 of her siblings.

Rogers Family Mortuary of Manassa is in care of the arrangements. A viewing will take place at the Rogers Family Mortuary Funeral home in Manassa on Thursday May 12, 2016 from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.
