Obituary for Norma Mae Walstrom

Norma Mae Walstrom
Lifetime San Luis Valley resident Norma Mae Walstrom, 84, passed away peacefully at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. Norma was born on December 28, 1931 in La Jara, Colorado to Luther and Nannie Maude Vance. She married the love of her life, Clarence Alfred “Cotton” Walstrom, on February 16, 1950 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa, Colorado and spent 66 happy years together.

Norma’s family was her life. They were the most important thing to her and she never passed up a moment to show them whether it be with a loving embrace or a delicious piece of homemade candy that everyone in the family looked forward to during Christmas. Norma was a hardworking woman and from her work at the bank and then for Sorum Tractor, she became well known and loved in the community. During her time at Sorum she had a connection with those she worked with and loved going to work to see them every day. One of her favorite things was her routine trip to get her hair done. She loved sitting and chatting with everyone.

Norma is survived by her loving husband, Clarence Walstrom of the family home in Alamosa. Her children Linda (Ben) Grothues of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Becky Johnson of Alamosa, Colorado, and Brenda (Ted Fossett) Walstrom of Parker, Colorado; her Granddaughter Tarryn (Traci) Johnson of La Junta, Colorado; her Grandsons Jake Sheets and Nate Sheets both of Parker, Colorado; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Luther Monroe and Nannie Maude Vance. Her grandson, Zakry Johnson, as well as ten siblings.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday July 12, 2016 at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday July 11, 2016 also at Sacred Heart. Interment will follow the services at the Alamosa Cemetery.
