Obituary for Philip Ray Jack

Philip Ray  Jack
Manassa- Manassa resident Philip Ray Jack, 60, passed away July 26, 2016 at his home in Manassa. He was born April 13, 1956 to Leon King and Lena DePriest Jack in Alamosa, Colorado.

He founded Buck Creek Horse Rescue in Alamosa and taught English at Adams State University. He was an amazing author and a writer for the Valley Courier newspaper. He loved horses, singing karaoke, photography and especially loved spending time with his family. Phil was also the first part-timer to be president of a Union in Washington State.

Philip is survived by his parents Leon and Lena Jack, children Stevie Rae (Mark) Causey, Marlayna (Kevin Gillen) Jack and Emily Jack, his siblings Kelvin (Loriann) Jack and Sandra (Tim) Johnston, his grandchildren Rannen Nicole Sherer, Evan Elizabeth Causey, Sebastian Andrew Causey and Anna Jack. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that will all miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his sister Glenda Hazlitt, and nephews Devin Johnston and Jessie Hazlitt.

A visitation will be held at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday July 31, 2016. A Celebration of life gathering will take place on Wednesday August 3rd from 4pm-12am at the Alamosa Elks Lodge. A memorial fund has been set up to benefit the family of Phil Ray Jack.
