Lifetime Del Norte resident Ruth Elizabeth "Betty" Tripp, 95, passed away on September 26, 2016. She was born on December 24, 1920 in Del Norte, Colorado to Pete and Ruth Wiederkehr. Betty graduated from Del Norte High School in 1938. She married Floyd Duncan in Del Norte on July 8, 1951. He preceded her in death. In September of 1986, she married William C. Tripp. He also preceded her in death.

Betty was a past Deacon and active member of the Pioneer United Church in Del Norte. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was involved in numerous Bridge groups. She enjoyed traveling and treasured her spontaneous road-trips with her children. Her true love was golf, in her lifetime, she had 3 hole-in-ones. Betty had won many trophies and medals, her most recent being a third place trophy at the age of 89 and her most treasured was a trophy from a Cancer tournament at the Doral Golf Course in Florida. She was a lifetime member of the Monte Vista Country Club, the ladies member of the year in 2013. On the ninth hole the tee box says Betty's Tee. The Betty Tripp Ladies Invitational is held every July in her honor.

She is survived by her children, David (Charlotte) Duncan of Centennial, Colorado, Betty Anne (Jerry) Hindes of Kennesaw, Georgia and Cheryl (Larry) Romero of Arvada, Colorado, her grandchildren, Deanne Rivera, Derek Duncan, Jeff Hindes, Julie Thomas, Jason Hindes, Jodi Ortiz, Tom Armstrong and Pam Wieden, sixteen great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one brother and 3 sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 8, 2016 at the Pioneer United Church in Del Norte. Interment will follow services in the Del Norte Cemetery.
