Longtime Alamosa resident Marilyn Mott Oberrick, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in the SLV Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. She was born September 18, 1935 in Alamosa to Jacob L. and Elsie Mott. She grew up in the San Luis Valley and graduated from Alamosa High School and attended Adams State College. She married John (Jack) Oberrick in Alamosa on her birthday, September 18, 1955.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Jack and their children and spouses; John (Fiona) Oberrick, Leslie (Clayton) Evans, and James (Careena) Oberrick; her grandchildren Connor Oberrick, Samantha Evans-Gustafson, Jayce Gustafson, McKayla Evans, Jameson Oberrick, Hayden Oberrick, and Jackson Oberrick; her sisters and brother: Betty Turney, Gloria Wuckert, Carol Mott, Kathleen (Jay) Jefferson, Joseph Mott, M.D., and Jeannie (John) Brandis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nothing in life was more important to Marilyn than her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking, gardening, sewing, music, reading and many homemaking crafts. She was a member in the Alamosa Third Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her friends and family will remember her for her many talents, kindness, her fun loving and wonderful sense of humor.

Her parents, her brothers and sister: Lyman, Maurice, Winfred, June Mott, and Joyce Foote preceded her in death.

A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Alamosa Third Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 300 Richardson Ave in Alamosa. Contributions are suggested in her memory to the Missionary Fund for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in care of the funeral home office.
