Obituary for Rex Jasper Johnson

Rex Jasper  Johnson
Rex J. Johnson,87, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2016. Rex was born in Monroe, Utah to John C. and Leona Johnson. He was the last of seven children who have all preceded him in death. Rex
served in the U.S. Army in Rabaul, New Britain with the 85th Engineer Boat Company whose mission was to survey surrounding islands in anticipation of atomic testing. Soon after he finished his service with the U.S. Army, he met and married Eda Rae Mattice, the love of his life, on December 9, 1950, and two years later they were sealed in the LDS Temple. During their almost 66 years of marriage, they were blessed wlth four children of their own; Janis (Timothy) Snyder, Randall (Peggy) Johnson, Timothy (Kathy) Johnson, Kris Johnson and their foster daughter Donna Herod. Rex has ten grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Rex was a mining engineer and during his career he worked primarily in the western
United States and in Columbia, South America just prior to his retirement. Rex was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held and enjoyed many positions throughout his life.
Services will be held on Saturday November 5th at the Manassa Stake House with viewing from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM and the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Manassa Cemetery. The funeral services are being provided by Rogers Family Mortuary. Please make donations to the Rio Grande lnn, 39 Calle Miller, La Jara 81140.
