Longtime Manassa resident Leon King Jack, 85, died December 7, 2016 at the Rio Grande Inn in La Jara. Leon was born in Manassa, Colorado on July 4, 1931, the proud son of James Rufus and Leola King Jack. He eloped with Lena Loy DePriest and they were united in marriage in Taos, New Mexico. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He truly enjoyed working with turquoise and ultimately made that his job for many years.

Leon is survived by his children Kelvin (Loriann) Jack of Colorado Springs, Sandra (Tim) Johnston of Del Norte, 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; as well as his brothers Johnny Jack and Carl Jack.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lena in August, 2016, his daughter Glenda Hazlitt in June, 2008, his son Philip Jack in July, 2016, his grandson Devin Johnston in June, 2013, great grandson Jessie Hazlitt in July, 2015, as well as his sisters Eloise Jack Dosch and Debra Jack.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Manassa 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Primary Room at the Church. Burial will follow in the Manassa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Manassa 1st Ward Missionary fund and can be made in care of the funeral home office.
