Obituary for Patricia Ann Lucero

Longtime Alamosa resident Patricia Ann Lucero, 70, passed away on December 28, 2016. She was born on November 1, 1946, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Pedro and Ramona (Gallegos) Lucero.

Patricia moved from New Mexico in August of 1964 to attend Adams State College where she studied music and started her life in the San Luis Valley. Patricia was a longtime Alamosa County employee, working for many years as a deputy in the Clerk and Recorder’s office. More recently she worked in the Land Use Administration and the 12th Judicial Court in Alamosa. She was also an active member of her community, volunteering for 20 years to the Free Community Christmas Dinner, which feeds anyone who did not have a place to celebrate Christmas dinner, and serving as chairperson of the Steering Committee for 6 of the last 20 years. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking, canning and spending time with her friends. Her true passion however, was her family. Upon retirement, she was quoted in a newspaper article saying, “I don’t have any big plans, I just know it is important to spend time with the people you love. We are here today, but don’t know about tomorrow, so I just want to put some emphasis into living and family…take time to nurture them”.
Her acceptance of all, abundance of compassion and selflessness will be missed by all of her volunteer colleagues, her friends, the community, and especially her family.

She is survived by her children; Anna (Dirck) Tromp of Saudi Arabia, Catherine (Robert) Provencal of Arvada, Colorado, and Donia (Tedd) Sabus of Golden, Colorado, her grandchildren; Jacob Gallegos, Lucas Gallegos, Jordan Tromp, Max Tromp, Maya Provencal, Casia Provencal, Saya Sabus, Sophia Sabus and Santana Sabus, her brothers, Adolfo (Santana) Lucero of Fort Sumner, New Mexico and Tomas (Linda) Lucero of New Mexico as well as her nephews; John Lucero, Joshua Lucero, Erin Lopez, Brandon Lucero and Ryan Lucero as well as many extended family and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.

Please join us in celebrating her life with a Mass on Saturday morning, January 7th, 2017 at 10:00 am, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. 715 E. 4th Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Free Community Christmas Dinner and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
