Obituary for Joseph Matthew Perea-Hoagland

Joseph Matthew Perea-Hoagland
Joseph “Hoagy” Matthew Perea-Hoagland, 37, passed away in Alamosa, Colorado on January 16, 2017. He was born to William Hoagland Jr. and Brenda Perea on August 15, 1979 in Alamosa, Colorado.

Joseph was born and raised in the San Luis Valley and it showed through in his hobbies. He loved being outside hunting or fishing, just exploring the land and coming closer to nature. There was nothing he enjoyed more after a long day hunting than coming home and having a nice juicy hamburger while enjoying his family and making everyone laugh with his wonderful sense of humor.

The one thing joseph was more proud of than anything was his service to his country. He was a very proud member of the United State Army and served for many years there as a Military Police Officer. Ever since he was a small child he would tell anyone that would listen that when he grew up he was going to be either a police officer or a fireman. When a position opened as a Military Policeman he jumped at the chance. Joseph loved his family and friends deeply and left an everlasting impression on many people. He will be missed greatly by those who loved him.

Joseph is survived by his parents; William Hoagland Jr. and Brenda Perea. His son Joseph “JoJo” Perea-Hoagland. His sister Michelle (Mauricio Fernandez) Perea. His Grandmother, Marguerite Hoagland. His aunts; Marci (Vince) Limtiaco, Lori (Ron) Salazar, and Denise (Andy) Haslett. His uncle, Mike (Liz) Perea and Beverly Cordova. His cousins; Thomas Archuletta, Jasmine Limtiaco, Jeremy Perea, Stephen Perea, Stephanie Perea, Ashley Perea, Brittney Abeyta, Nicole Perea, and Victoria Gifford. His Nieces and Nephews Jacinda Perea-Gonzalez, Richard Olivas, Alyssa Roman, and Alliyah Roman. As well as numerous extended family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bill Hoagland, His maternal grandparents, Joe and Mary Ann Perea. Also, Debra Trujillo and Richard Perea.

Cremation was chosen and entrusted to Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at The Door Christian Fellowship in Alamosa with inurnment to follow at the Hoagland Cemetery in Ft. Garland.
