Longtime Capulin resident Lupe Cervantez, 57, passed away on January 15, 2017. He was born on January 15, 1960 in Muleshoe, Texas to Quirino and Maria Megia Cervantez. He was a heavy equipment Operator for The United States Forest Service for many years. He both loved his cars and working on his cars. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and his friends.

Lupe is survived by his sons, Lupe Jr and Cynthia Cervantez, their children, Sonya Cervantez and Lupe Cervantez III, Daniel Cervantez, Carlos Cervantez and Emilio Cervantez, his grandchildren, Sonya and Lupe III, as well as his siblings, Balbina and Cruz Zarazua, Emma and Jose Torres, Quirino, Jr. and Glenda Cervantez, Juanita Martinez and Elmer, Rosemarie Gonzales, Angie Gonzales, Manuel Cervantez, Ruben and Angel Cervantez, Sylvia and Mike Maez, as well as numerous nieces nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, his niece Marissa “Britt” Cervantez, his brothers Joey Archuleta and Gene Arellano.

A joint Funeral Mass will be held for Lupe and his niece Marissa Cervantez at 11:00 AM on Monday January 23rd, 2017 at the St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Capulin. A Recitation of the Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday January 22nd, 2017 also at the church. Burial will follow in the Capulin Cemetery.
