Longtime Romeo resident Jose “Joe” Manuel Pacheco, 91, passed away on January 18, 2017 at the Rio Grande Inn in La Jara. He was born to Manuel and Carmel Pacheco in Penasco, New Mexico on January 16, 1926. Joe spent many years working as a maintenance man and a welder in the Pearlite mines. He married Cleo Espinoza in 1956 in Taos, New Mexico. He was a father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend.

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cleo Pacheco his children, Georgia (Robert) Venne, Bea (Scott) Rouse, Carla (Jimmy) Vigil, Billy Joe (Rebecca) Pacheco, grandchildren, Kimberly (Dante) Gonzales, Jeffery (Elitia) Rouse, Leigh Borjas, Sean (Ashley) Vigil, Ryan (Mariah) Rouse, Brianne Pacheco and Chrissy Reyes, Brandi (Brendon) Anderson, Brendan Pacheco, Bryson Pacheco, Tausha Vigil and Cory Vigil as well as 11 great grandchildren, his sisters Katharine Espinoza, Caroline Mayo, Pricilla Vigil and Gloria Espinoza as well his brother and sister in law Paul and Gloria Rivera and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday January 21, 2017 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday January 20, 2017 also at the funeral home in Manassa. Interment will follow services in the Manassa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Rio Grande Inn and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
