Obituary for Hugh Alwyn Haller

Dr. Hugh A. “Bud” Haller, D.V.M., 83, of Rito Alto Ranch, Moffat, died January 31, 2017 at his home near Moffat in Saguache County, Colorado. He was born May 16, 1933 in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Haller was a partner at Valley Veterinary Clinic in Alamosa in the 1960's. He returned to the San Luis Valley in the 80's as owner of Haller's Rito Alto Herefords with a private veterinary practice. He retired to Rito Alto Ranch in 2005 after fourteen years in New Mexico as a Federal Veterinarian.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard F. and Pearl Rieke Haller of Arvada, CO; his son Marc Haller of Moffat, CO, and his sister Shirley Barnes of Santa Fe, NM. Among his survivors are his wife of 53 1/2 years, Gretchen S. Haller, his son Bret W. Haller of Renton, WA, his sister Roberta Brundige of La Crescenta, CA and his brother-in-law Dr. Martin T. Shellabarger of Moffat, CO.

Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in care of the cremation. A remembrance gathering will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Rito Alto Cemetery, nine miles east of Moffat, CO. His ashes will be included in the Haller Family Memorial Bench.
