Obituary for Marjorie Marie Kitch

Marjorie Marie Kitch, long time Alamosa resident, formerly of Longmont, went to sleep on February 7, 2017, joining her husband in rest until the Lord’s return. She was 90 years young.

Marjorie was born on July 7, 1926 in Sacramento, California to George Clay and Dolly Ruth Ferrell. Marjorie married Russell Kitch in 1948. For 64 years, they shared a life together raising their 2 children, hiking, camping, fishing and doting on grandchildren, until his passing in 2011.

She retired after 20 years from the St. Vrain Valley School District. In her retirement, her interests were her family, cooking, writing, and caring for her much loved Chihuahuas, Koko, Johnnie, Emily and Sara.

Marjorie published her first novel in 2014 at the age of 87, The Last Apple on the Tree, a book based her childhood memories.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Linda Young (Allan) of Alamosa; son, Dana Kitch (Anne) of Lakewood, grandsons James Young of Westminster, Jason Young of Alamosa; Jeremy Young of Alamosa; Tyler Kitch of Lakewood; granddaughters Karie Young of Alamosa; Jennifer Koelliker (Burton) of Denver; Kristin Jaramillo (Jesse) of Alamosa; Erin Moore (Justin) of Brighton; and great-grandchildren June, Aly, JoJo and Ozzie Koelliker, Evan and Adam Moore, Dylan, Cy, and Samantha Young, and Micah Jaramillo.

A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11 am. A celebration of her life will follow at the home of her granddaughter, Erin Moore.
