Obituary for Holbert "Hal" Helmstetler

Holbert "Hal"  Helmstetler
South Fork resident Holbert “Hal” Helmstetler, passed away on February 12, 2017 at his home in South Fork at the age of 84. He was born in Olustee, Oklahoma on July 28, 1932 to Charles Helmstetler and Nora Hall Helmstetler.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Loydene Ward Helmstetler, Daughter Lynn (Bob) Hollan, son, Keith (Becki) Helmstetler as well as several nieces and nephews.

Hal was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

He was employed by Montgomery Ward, where he retired after 34 years. Working in zone and regional management in several states and receiving many awards, including Operating Manager of the year, twice. After his retirement from Montgomery Ward, he went on to work as a General Manager for Chem-Pruf Manufacturing.

Hal served on many boards through the years, being President of some, including Rotary International in Brownsville, Texas, Kiwanis in South Fork, Colorado and the board for the South Fork Clinic. The one award he treasured the most was being named “Citizen of the Year” in South Fork.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions are suggested to Cal Farley’s Ranch in Amarillo, Texas or to Hospice Del Valle and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
