The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Joseph Atencio can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

I am one of the many who loved Joe. It wasn't hard, because he loved first. Like so many other LP volunteers, he'd give me chocolate and we bonded over comic books (mostly Brewster Rocket, and Calvin & Hobbes). We both started as (official) LP volunteers at an unconventional time of year - January 2008. All the other volunteers hard begun in August. So, as Joe would say it, he was my "group." But, he & I both bonded deeply with the other volunteers, and the next year's, and then when I left, he'd keep me in the loop about Chas, Landry, Bailey, and all the other volunteers he continued to build friendships with. I've named Joe an honorary uncle to my kids. He's sent me birthday, Christmas, and "just because" packages. I am honored to own and wear an "Ordinary Joes" softball t-shirt, which he sent me.. (I could tell that experience made him proud.) We texted a lot.. I wasn't ready for the conversations to end. Joe, you're so missed, and always will be.
