Longtime Monte Vista resident Charles Anthony Martinez, 60, passed away on April 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 28, 1956 in Leadville, Colorado to Ted and Darita Martinez. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to all types of music, barbecuing, and painting, He loved the outdoors and cherished the time with his family.

Charles is survived by his wife Karen Jiron of Monte Vista, his children, Adonia (Garrett) Cleghorn, Antonia (Justin Mascarenas) Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez and Virginia Martinez, his grandchildren, Lanaya Cleghorn, Nikayla Cleghorn, Elissa Rodriguez, Elianna Rodriguez, AJ Rodriguez, Vivian Gonzales and Baby Gonzales, as well as his siblings, Marcella (Benito) Gonzales, Virginia (Sam) Salazar, Annabelle Corral, Dolores Martinez, Michelle Martinez, Sam (Eileen) Martinez, Edward (Fabiana) Martinez as well as many loving extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Darita Martinez, his sister Margaret Martinez, and his son Tomas Duran.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening also at the church. Burial will follow services at the Homelake Cemetery.
