Obituary for Jane Harper Wagner

Long-time Denver resident Jane Wagner died July 7th, 2017. Widowed nearly 14 years ago, she had been living at the Bridge in Alamosa for the last 4 years and The Legacy in Monte Vista, before that. She is survived by son Charles (Barbara) Wagner of Monte Vista, Nancy (Gene) Leonardson of Kenmore, Washington, and Pat Wagner of Fairbanks, Alaska, she had 3 grandchildren, Mark, Rebecca and David and 2 great grandchildren, Elijah and Sophie. She was preceded in death by her grandson Aaron.

Jane was born in Peoria, Illinois and raised in south Chicago. She attended Thornton Junior College before completing her education at the University of Colorado. She and her husband, of 62 years, George were both retired from Denver Public Schools, she as a Physical Education Teacher.

She enjoyed all sports, particularly golf and bowling, later in life, she never missed her daily walk. She knit many sweaters and went on to become an amateur weaver. She and her husband traveled widely as members of Ports of Call, followed by numerous Elderhostel vacations. She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed baking bread.

A memorial service will be held at The Bridge at Alamosa on August 24, 2017 at 1:30 p.m., which would be her 100th birthday. In lieu of flowers, contributions ca be made to the Denver Symphony, Rocky Mountain PBS or the Park Hill United Methodist Church in Denver.
