Alamosa- Clarence “Cotton” Alfred Walstrom, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on July 27, 2017. Clarence was born on September 6, 1928 in Independence, Missouri to Elmer and Gertrude Walstrom. He married the love of his life, Norma Mae Vance, in the Sacred Heart Catholic church on February 16, 1950. They were married for 66 amazing years before Norma’s passing in July of 2016.

Clarence was a salesman by trade and held a handful of jobs that let him use his great people skills. One of which was owning the local Sears Catalogue store. He was a family man and loved his wife, kids, and grandkids with every bit of his large heart. One of his favorite things was driving his convertible Mercedes a few blocks just to pick the grandkids up from school. He had a love for farming that was born from helping farm and raise potatoes on the family farm while growing up. Upon his retirement from the sales world he continued that love of farming but switched the crop to alfalfa. Clarence loved tinkering, he was always out in his garage either fixing something or trying to improve on whatever he was working on.

Clarence is survived by his children Linda (Ben) Grothues of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Becky Johnson of Alamosa, Colorado, and Brenda (Ted Fossett) Walstrom of Parker, Colorado; his Granddaughter Tarryn (Traci) Johnson of La Junta, Colorado; his Grandsons Jake Sheets and Nate Sheets both of Parker, Colorado; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Mae Walstrom. His parents, Elmer and Gertrude Walstrom, His grandson, Zakry Johnson, One sister and three brothers.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday August 1, 2017 at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday July 31, 2017 also at Sacred Heart. Interment will follow the services at the Alamosa Cemetery.
