Long time Del Norte resident, Gertrude "Trudy" M. Cordova passed away on October 17th, 2017 after fighting an extended battle of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She went to meet her Heavenly Father surrounded by her loving family.

Gertrude was born on February 14, 1936 in Del Norte, CO. Born to Antonio R. Valdez and Esmiria M. Salazar.
Gertrude was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She was very proud of all her children. She was a little firecracker or as some people would call her, "an ornery little rascal". Gertrude was an extraordinary cook, who loved cooking for her honey and her family. She enjoyed gambling, watching western movies and CNN, and loved spanish music and dancing.

Due to her disease she was nonverbal and at the young age of 81 she became an avid facebooker! She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Albert Cordova. Her children, Joanne (Michael) Hales, Ogden, UT, Rose Marie (Ron) Vanderpool, Monte Vista, CO, Joey (Danita) Sanchez, Colorado Springs, CO, Dolores (Paul) Atencio, Del Norte, CO, Raquel (Wally) Gonzales, Monte Vista, CO, 17 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Antonio Valdez, Mother, Esmiria Salazar, Daughter, Anita, Her sister Genevieve Duran, brothers Richard Valdez, Albert Valdez, Eugene Valdez, Toribio Valdez, Robert Valdez, and also preceded in death by her dear Aunt Eva of Ortiz, CO.

Cremation was chosen and a Rosary service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Rogers Family Mortuary, 404 Morris Street in Monte Vista. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 also at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. Contributions are suggested to the ALS Association and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
