Eleanor “Ellie” Carson Labouisse

Eleanor Carson Labouisse died Oct. 11, 2017, in Kent, Wash., from cancer.

She was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Alamosa, Colo., to Christopher “Kit” Carson III and Eloisa Valdes. Ellie was the great granddaughter of Kit Carson, the famous frontiersman. The fourth of four children, she spent most of her childhood years in Sanford, Colo., before the family moved to Alamosa.

Ellie graduated from Alamosa High School in 1948. She attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas, and completed her X-Ray technology training at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she met her future husband, David Labouisse of New Orleans.

They married on April 27, 1957. After living in San Diego and Laramie, Wyoming, they settled down in Alamosa, where they lived for many year

Ellie worked as an X-Ray technician at Monte Vista Community Hospital and at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. She volunteered for many roles in Alamosa, including caring for her elderly parents and Aunt Rebecca Best. She was a volunteer at Evergreen Nursing home in Alamosa, and was instrumental in the annual Thanksgiving day dinner for the needy.

In 2004, Ellie moved to Buckley, Wash., to be near her sister, Elaine, and other family. Later she moved to Kent, Wash.

Ellie is preceded in death by her husband David W. Labouisse, her parents, Eloisa Valdes and Christopher “Kit” Carson III, her sister, Elaine C. Moloney, and her brothers Christopher Carson and William Carson.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Janice Carson of Canon City, nieces Catherine Carson (Tom) of Steamboat Springs and Laurie M. Moloney (John) of Kent, Wash.; nephews Steven E. Moloney (Mary) of Burien, WA, Christopher Carson (Regina) of Portland, Ore., Duane Moloney (Peggy) of Bothell, Wash., Kevin Carson (Catherine) of Boulder, and Chad Moloney (Eveline) of Renton, Wash.; grandnieces, Tiffany Moloney, Sara Moloney Sawyer (Michael), Christine Baldwin (Nick); grandnephews, Mathew Moloney (Sarah), Talus Moloney, and Maxim Moloney and great grandniece, Claire Sawyer.

A Rosary will be held Friday, Nov. 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 715 E 4th St, Alamosa, CO. The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She will be interred at the Alamosa Cemetery.
