Obituary for Phyllis Leota Cody (Jackman)

On October 27, 2017 Phyllis L. Cody, 93, was peacefully received into Christ’s heavenly kingdom at Jodi Fair Hospice in Pueblo, Colorado after a stroke.

Born November 2, 1923 in Alamosa, Colorado to Sydney and Belle (McDonald) Jackman, Phyllis spent most of her life in Alamosa. She graduated from Alamosa High School then worked at Douglas Aircraft in California during WWII, the railroad and the County Clerk’s office in Alamosa.

On March 28, 1950 she married Bob J. Cody and they raised six children Dennis, Sally, Pat, Wayne, Bill and Tim. Because of her, there are 49 more people in the world:
6 children born into the world
Who got married and had 15 grand children
Who got married and had 28 great grandchildren (so far)

Bob would always look at her and jokingly say, “It’s all your fault.” She was a devoted helpmate to Bob, her family and the farm in Waverly. Her coffee pot was always “on” to whoever came in the back door. She actively served at First Baptist Church, had her devotions every morning and lived out her faith in Jesus Christ to the end, one day at a time. He joyfully met her with open arms.

Many friends enjoyed her company while playing Yahtzee, bowling, Bingo at the Bridge and visiting.

Phyllis’s memorial service will be held at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa on Thursday, November 2nd (her birthday) at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate your gifts in remembrance of Phyllis to Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, CO.

Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in care of the arrangements. Online condolences, tributes and remarks can be left for Phyllis’ family by visiting www.RogersFunerals.com
