Carlotta Maria Naranjo-Amador was born at home on May 29, 1939, in Alamosa, CO, to Antonio Nerio Felipe Naranjo, and Maria Encarnacion Trujillo-Naranjo. Her father was from the Huerfano County, Colorado-area; her mother from the town of Capulin.

Carlotta was the fourth oldest of their 11 children; there was Julia, Sammie, Enrique, Carlotta, Hank, Vickie, Pat, Phil, Irene, and Linda

She attended Kindergarten through third grade in a 3-room school house, and later attended Alamosa Junior High and High School.

Carlotta graduated from Adam State College, with a teaching degree in 1972 and began her professional teaching career as a kindergarten teacher. Her career would span 34 years and 3 States; she was involved with the State Head start program and student taught and substituted in Alamosa for 2 years; taught in Salt Lake City, UT, for 6 years and finally taught for 26 years in El Paso, Texas. She retired from teaching in 2006. She mentioned that in her years in El Paso, she taught 3 generations of the same families. When asked why she preferred teaching kindergarten, Mom felt she could help form the basic reasoning skills of the little children in hope that it would help form their character as they matured; they would not forget what Ms. Amador taught them. (Now her principle comes from the Bible, Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.")

Carlotta was married to the late Joe Martinez and later to the late Pascual Amador.

She had 8 children, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren with one on the way.

Throughout her life, Carlotta displayed extraordinary compassion and concern for others, especially those less fortunate, even wayward kids. She was very generous of her personal time and finances. Always sensitive to the needs of others.

She cared for her husband Pascual after he suffered a stroke in 1999. After his passing on April 22, 2013 she moved into the Palisades Retirement community, El Paso, TX, and has been a happy resident up to the time of her passing on April 2, 2018. Members there said they did not lose a neighbor but they lost a family member. During her time there she was involved with many volunteer programs for the needy and poor. She enjoyed playing Bingo and conversing with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pascual Amador on 22 Apr 2013 and her youngest son Jeffery Marcus Amador on May 30 2015.

She is and always will be in the loving hearts of her children Marcia Izumi, Anthony Martinez, Teresa Martinez, Stephanie Jones, Joseph Amador, Patrick Amador and Juan R. (J.R.) Amador.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday April 7, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Vigil with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday April 6, 2018 also at Sacred Heart. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.
