Obituary for Trinidad Jacobo Maestas

La Jara resident Trinidad J. “Trini” Maestas, 67, passed away at his home in La Jara and under Hospice care on April 13, 2018. Trini was born to Esmael and Doloritas Maestas in La Jara, Colorado on January 11, 1951.

He married Nancy Roarty from Pontiac, Illinois. Trini moved to Illinois at an early age and lived there 38 years, working for Caterpillar for 30 of those years. He retired in 2009, moved to the family farm where he kept active. Trini was very grateful to be able to retire to his family’s homestead in La Jara. Besides hobby farming, Trini loved being outside, hunting and fishing and just being in nature. Even though he loved the outdoors, he always made time to play some pool. Trini had a wonderful sense of humor and kept this up until his last days.

Trini is survived by his siblings John (Luella) Maestas of Antonito, Adelmo (Helen) Maestas of Albion, Idaho, Floyd (Terrie) Maestas of Farmington, N.M., Bernal (Connie) Maestas of Alamosa, Frances (Roy) Hall of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister-in-law Emily Maestas of Albion, Idaho, brothers-in-law Raymundo Valdez and Ambrosio Mondragon, Jr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Esmael and Doloritas Maestas; his brothers Samuel Ben Mestas, Gilbert Maestas, Santiago Ed Maestas and sisters Sarah Valdez and Ernestine Mondragon; and his sister-in-law Lydia Maestas.
