Longtime San Luis Valley resident Eva Opal Hale, 88, passed away May 31, 2018 at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake.

Eva was born in Des Moines, New Mexico on September 25, 1929 to Cornelius and Hermie (Massegee) Snider. She married Marion Calvin Hale on March 7, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Alamosa.

Eva worked from 1979-1992 as the Postmaster in Mosca. She was very active in her family, church and community. In her spare time, she enjoyed many activities including gardening, flowers, hand work, playing piano and following her retirement, painting. Eva loved the outdoors and all of God’s creation.

Eva is survived by her children Virginia Ann Adolph of Mosca and Richard “Dick” (Jody) Hale of Pueblo West, CO; her grandchildren: Kerri (Brian) Sierra, Kendal (Jessica) Adolph, April (Jonathan) Beaver, Pennie Strople and B.J. (Kristin) Hale; her great-grandchildren: Jacob Adolph, Madalyn (Sam) Smith, Kendra Adolph, Austin, Brenton and Bryanna Sierra, Daniel, Alex and Trevor Strople, Allison and Andrew Beaver, Raiden and Lincoln Hale; her great-great grandson Colt Smith; her brothers and sisters: Cornelius (Lois) Snider of Phoenix, AZ, Leon (Maureen) Snider of Alamosa, Shirley (Norman) White of Tucson, AZ and Leonard (Joan) Snider of Heber City, UT; as well as many other family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband Marion, her parents, her brother Francis, her son-in-law Kenneth Adolph, her granddaughter Wendy Jo Adolph, her great-grandsons Jonathan and Grayson Beaver.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa and from 9:00 until service time Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the church. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Hooper Baptist Church in Hooper, CO. Interment will follow services in the Speiser Cemetery.
