Gilbert  Sanchez
Alamosa resident Gilbert Lee Sanchez, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Alamosa under Hospice care on May 4, 2016.

Gilbert was born in Alamosa on November 11, 1953 to Fred Lee and Madeline Lara Sanchez.

Gilbert was an avid Elvis fan and loved watching Bruce Lee movies. He enjoyed fishing, was a Redskins fan, and liked to go for walks, lift weights and stroll around town looking for his best friend Mike. Gilbert always had a Ricola to drink and RC Cola. One of his favorite sayings was "Eee I Said..."

He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Rudy Sanchez, Lillian Klutts, Lydia Corona, and Bernie Sanchez all of Alamosa, Lucy Garcia of Las Cruses, NM, Linda Sanchez of Alamosa and Ronnie Sanchez of Alamosa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother Delia Lara, cousin Ralph Salazar who he considered a brother, his aunt and uncle Joe and Olivia Martinez, his uncle Johnny Sanchez and his cousin Nancy Ariaza.

Cremation was chosen and a Recitation of the Rosary will be held 6:00 pm this evening, May 6th at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Graveside Committal of Ashes will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Alamosa Cemetery.
