Obituary for Artie Mae Howlett

Artie Mae Howlett
Alamosa – Lifelong Alamosa resident Artie Mae Howlett, 55, passed away at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center on May 4, 2016. Artie was born on December 5, 1960 to Grant Grady and Barbara Rosalie Pottberg in Alamosa, Colorado. She was married to Lee Martin Howlett and spent her life with him and their children.

Artie had a zest for different adventures in life. She could always be found keeping herself busy whether it is raising her children, grandchildren, quilting, baking or anything else you can do to make a house a home. When the weather was nice she would spend her days out in her yard making sure her flowers were looking as beautiful as always and growing delicious vegetables. She was very proud of her vegetables and you would understand when you got to taste them. When it came to flowers her favorites to grow were Roses, Peonies, and Iris’s.

Artie also loved music and nearly anything you could watch on a stage. She could sit for hours listening to a concert and it hardly even mattered who was playing since she just loved music. She was also very fond of the theater and wouldn’t miss a chance to see a good play.

Artie is survived by her loving husband, Lee Martin Howlett. Her children; Jonathan Howlett of Alamosa, and Shara Howlett of Colorado Springs. Her Step-Daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Mullen of Tuscan, Arizona. Four grandchildren; Iann Howlett, Jakobi McRae, Audrey Mullen and Mark Mullen Jr. Her mother, Barbara Rosalie Pottberg. Her Father in law, John M. Howlett of Clovis, California. Her brother in laws, John D.(Anita) Howlett of San Diego, California, Peter (Rachel) Howlett, of Germany, Mark(Grace) Howlett of San Diego, California and Craige (Corrine) Howlett of Pflugerville, Texas.
