Garcia resident Betty June Bolen, 79, passed away May 19, 2016 at her home in Garcia.

Betty was born in Holly, Colorado the first child of Marcus D. and Rosalie O. Howland Walker. She married Andy Bolen in Acequia, Colorado on November 5, 1955. They enjoyed more than 60 years together.

Betty earned her degree in education and taught Primary School for many years. In her younger years she enjoyed camping and hiking with her family. She was a very devoted wife and mother. Because of her career as a teacher, she was full of good information that she used to teach her family about astronomy, geology and many different subjects. In her spare time she was an avid reader.

Betty is survived by her husband Andy Bolen of Garcia; her children Carolyn Bolen of Colorado Springs, Rebecca (Bill) Hoffmann of Colorado Springs, and Felicia (David) Olsen of Littleton, CO; her grandchildren Monica and Aarron, Alicia and Julianne and Jasmine and Rosalie; her sisters Carol Sue Zech, Marilyn Walker, Sharon Holmes and Elaine Hayden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Steven Bolen.

Services will be held at a later date.
