Former San Luis Valley resident Juan "John" Francisco De Sales Archuleta, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and his faithful companion, Gemma, in Federal Heights, Colorado on June 6, 2016.
John was born on June 7, 1930 in Las Nutrias, New Mexico the son of Juan D. and Ruben Montano Archuleta. He married Josephine Olivama Sandoval on October 30, 1975 in Juarez, Mexico. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2011.

John was a hard worker and worked for most of his life as a Farmer and Ranch Hand. His working career would take him to many different places including Texas, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. He loved horses and spent many hours breaking, training and riding them.

John is survived by his children Jerome (Brandy) Archuleta of Monte Vista, CO, Joyce (Steve) Chacon of Denver, CO, Jeanne (Gene) Aragon of Trinidad, CO, Jeffrey (Erica) Archuleta of Federal Heights, CO, Diana Rey and family, Denver, CO and Regina Olivas and family; his grandchildren: Josephine Archuleta, Izabella Archuleta, Tomas Chacon, Syrus Chacon, Jade Chacon, Felicity Archuleta, Shanalle Archuleta, Unica Archuleta, Braelyn Archuleta and Lisette Aragon; his brother Manuel Archuleta of Utah and his sister Cedelia Archuleta of Alamosa, CO and loved by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister Mary Archuleta and his brother Dave Archuleta.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held AT 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista, Colorado. Interment of ashes will take place at the Monte Vista Cemetery.
