Obituary for Margaret Ann Williams

Longtime valley resident Margaret Ann Williams, 94, passed away on August 22, 2016 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa surrounded by three of her four daughters. She was born on February 20, 1922 in Del Norte, Colorado to Lawrence and Loretta Benson Wasson. She grew up on the “Island” near Del Norte. Margaret worked as an office manager in insurance for many years. After that, she helped her husband Dick Williams in his electrical business. Margaret was an avid reader, a member of the Rebecca Lodge, Tri-County Senior Citizens, and the Monte Vista Methodist Church. She was also active in Bible study and prayer groups.

Margaret is survived by her children, Marvel (Dale) Gibson of Kootingal, Australia, Gwynn (Wayne) Linville of Amarillo, Texas, Loretta (Jack) Windham of Brownfield, Texas and Anita Kinsey of Monte Vista as well as 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her sister Carolee Payne and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard “Dick” Williams and her siblings, Melborne Thomas, Marvin A., Nellie Marie, Cleo Loretta, Maybelle Miller and Dorothy Chadwell.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday August 29, 2016 at the Monte Vista Methodist Church. Interment will follow services in the Homelake Veteran’s Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Monte Vista Methodist Church or the Monte Vista Fire Department and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
