Obituary for Cyril Conrad Parker

Cyril Conrad  Parker
Alamosa resident Cyril Conrad “Con” Parker, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Alamosa under hospice care on September 8, 2016.

Conrad’s life began on September 14, 1934 in Terra Haute, Indiana, he was the only child of Cyril and Theresa Deal Parker. Conrad married Patricia Ann Burch in Kingman, Indiana in 1954.

Conrad and Patricia moved to the San Luis Valley in 1988 after he retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in Vietnam as a Nurse Anesthetist and continued his trade following his retirement. He taught Anesthesia to many people throughout the years. After moving to the valley, Conrad sought out a position with the Alamosa Sheriff’s Office and completed academy courses to become a certified officer. He served in this capacity with the Sheriff’s office for 20 years and until his retirement. He was the recipient of the Volunteer Award for his service at the Sheriff’s Office. In his spare time he was a Pilot and enjoyed flying.

Conrad is survived by his wife Patricia Parker of Alamosa; his children Judith Diann (Mark) Averett of Marietta, GA, Michael Vincent (Theresa) Parker of El Paso, TX and Cyril Kent (Jocelyn) Parker of Thornton, CO; as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Conrad is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Church of Christ, 408 Victoria Ave., in Alamosa. Interment services will follow in the Alamosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Contributions are suggested to either the Colorado Police Protective Association, 1485 Kelly Johnson Blvd, Suite 230, Colorado Springs, CO 80920, or Hospice del Valle, 514 Main St., Alamosa, CO 81101.
