Longtime Monte Vista resident Frances Lynn Nye, 68, passed away on Monday October 10, 2016 under Hospice care. She was born on February 19, 1948 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Harold Keith and Geraldine Marie Duncan Helmick.

Frances spent many years as an administrator for the P-vine railroad. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, trains and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; George "Gene" (Shayna) Garrett, Jr. of Alamosa, Stacey (Matt) Harner of Pueblo, Jerry (Kara) Nye of Alamosa, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and one on the way, her siblings, Harold Helmick of Leadville, Donny Helmick of Leadville, Charles Helmick of Quebec, Canada, Richard Helmick of Saguache, Connie Helmick of Aurora and Gail Helmick Wallace of Arvada.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Stanley Helmick.

Cremation was selected and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday October 15, 2016 at the Calvary Baptist Church (2160 Sherman Avenue) in Monte Vista.
