Longtime Alamosa resident Dorothy Becker, 74, died February 18, 2017 at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Pueblo.

Dorothy’s life began on April 25, 1942 in Finley, Oklahoma, the daughter of Arthur R. and Gracie Gentry Hensley. She met Harry F. Becker, Jr. and they were united in marriage on November 30, 1959 in Taos, New Mexico. They were married for more than 54 years, until Harry’s death in June, 2014.

Dorothy held several different jobs throughout her life, but mostly was a homemaker. She absolutely loved fishing and would fish anywhere there was water. In her earlier years, she liked to crochet and knit. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children Paul Becker of Alamosa and Dale (Jennifer) Becker of Monte Vista; her grandchildren Alisha Browning, Casey (Amanda) Becker, Joshua Becker, Corey (Courtney) Dye and Mackenzy (Bailey Carrol) Becker; her sisters-in-law Paula and Beth Hensley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Dempsey Hensley, George Hensley and Glenn Hensley.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Inurnment of ashes will follow services in the Becker Cemetery. Contributions in her memory are suggested to the San Luis Valley Fair, c/o Rogers Family Mortuary, 205 State Ave., Alamosa, CO 81101.
