Center resident Gerald Thomas “Tommy” Archuleta, 33, passed away on April 10, 2017. He was born on April 18, 1983 in Los Alamos, New Mexico to Leroy and Jeanne Herrera Archuleta. Gerald graduated from Mesa Vista High School with honors in 2001. He achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Adams State College in 2007. He spent the last 10 years teaching, of that; the last 7 years were in Antonito. He coached high school and middle school basketball, track and cross country. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hike, fish and camp. He enjoyed golfing and doing triathlons with his wife and going to the Colorado Rockies baseball games on Sundays. He truly loved autographing with his “Rockies Family”.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie Dawn Archuleta and baby Archuleta of Center, his mother, Jeanne Archuleta of El Rito, New Mexico, his grandmother, Vada Gonzales of Riverside, California, his siblings, Anthony (Judy) Archuleta of Alcalde, New Mexico and Ernesto (Esperanza) Archuleta of El Rito, New Mexico, his mother-in-law’s and father-in-law Dennis and Alice Burch of Alamosa and Janet Carroll of Houston, Texas, his brother-in-law Dominic Burch of Corpus Christi, Texas, his sisters-in –law, Jacque (Daniel Rodriguez) Burch of Loveland, Colorado and Christie (Morgan Hart) Burch of Loveland, Colorado, his nephew T.J. Archuleta and numerous extended family and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Archuleta.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday April 17, 2017 at the Antonito High School Gym. Interment of ashes will follow the services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colorado at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Contributions are suggested to “Gerald’s Track Fund” to help buy future Trojan tracksters spikes and throwing shoes and to complete his long jump pit your contribution may be made in care of the funeral home office.
