Mercy forever

I remember meeting Mariann in Omaha when I first entered the Sisters of Mercy and Mariann was discerning her call to marriage and missionary service. She shared her story with a heart full of love and a passion for people who are poor, oppressed and otherwise marginalized. She touched me deeply at that time and when she and Noel and Wanda returned from South America to Denver, we had the oppportunity to work together and spend time at the Bethlehem Center in Broomfield. Later, as she and Noel engaged in so many wonderful programs and projects in Alamosa, she invited me to come and share in workshops and ministry. I remember as I was getting ready to head back to Denver at the end of a weekend, Noel was the radio host on the Public Radio station for the "Irish music" program! Together, Mariann and Noel always made working for justice a task of joy, and never a burden! We will miss you, Mariann. Mariann and Noel are Associate members of the Sisters of Mercy congregation because we needed Mariann to stay connected so we could learn how to be more merciful.  Peg Maloney, RSM
