Phil was a colleague of mine at Adams State. We were both adjunct professors teaching down in the trenches: English 101 and English 102. I always appreciated his advocacy work on behalf of adjunct faculty, and he will be missed. We shared two other connections: we are both writers and we both love horses. Phil asked me a couple times to read and/or donate my equine-inspired artwork to raise awareness and funds for his horse rescue project. I am sure he will be greatly missed by his equine friends as well. I'm so sorry for your family's loss, but I'm sure Phil will be watching out for us on the other side.
